Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Maxi's Mighty Mindgames mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Amazon Fire tablets.

The short version

The app does not send personal data to the developer, show advertising or track users. It works without a developer account. On Apple devices, private family profiles and a small progress summary can sync through Apple iCloud. On Fire tablets, learning data stays in the app's private storage, subject to any backup or device-transfer feature enabled by the device owner.

Information stored on the device

To provide its learning features, the app saves the following information locally on the device:

On Apple devices, detailed writing paths and attempts, custom practice words and optional pronunciation recordings are not included in iCloud progress sync. On Fire tablets, optional pronunciation audio files are excluded from the app's system backup rules.

Private progress sync through Apple iCloud

This section applies only to the iPhone and iPad editions.

When the device is signed in to iCloud, the app saves this small data set through Apple's private key-value storage:

Apple makes this value available only to copies of the app using the same Apple Account. Dominic Barker does not operate a server for this feature and cannot view or retrieve the value. It is not used for advertising, analytics or tracking. Apple's handling of iCloud is governed by the Apple Account holder's agreement with Apple.

The learning games continue to work offline. Changes sync again when iCloud becomes available.

Fire tablet backup and device transfer

The Fire edition does not use Apple iCloud and does not operate a developer sync service. The app permits its private preferences—including profiles, settings and learning progress—to participate in backup or device transfer when the tablet's operating system and the device owner's settings provide those features. This processing is controlled by the platform provider, not Dominic Barker, and the developer cannot view or retrieve the backed-up data.

Microphone access

The microphone is optional. It is requested only when a grown-up passes the in-app adult gate and chooses to record a pronunciation for a custom practice word. The recording stays on the device and can be removed with the custom word.

Exports and sharing

A grown-up may explicitly create a progress report or printable worksheet and open the device's system save or share controls. Nothing is shared unless the grown-up chooses a destination. Once exported, the selected destination's own privacy terms apply to that copy.

What the app does not contain

Children's privacy

The app is designed for children and does not transmit information to or retain information for the developer. Platform backup and sync features are used only to help the same family retain progress on its own devices. Grown-up tools—including detailed reports, custom words, profile deletion and microphone recording—are protected by an adult-level multiplication question.

Retention and deletion

Local information remains on the device until it is deleted in the app or the app is removed. On Apple devices, removing only the app does not necessarily remove its private iCloud progress value. The adult-gated Clear All Data action clears local learning data and places a reset marker in iCloud so an older synced Apple device cannot restore the cleared progress. On Fire tablets, the operating system or device owner may retain a separate backup according to the platform's backup settings and retention terms.

Security

Local app data is protected by the device operating system and the device owner. Apple progress sync uses Apple's private iCloud service; Fire backup or transfer is handled by the device platform. The developer does not maintain a remote database containing children's learning records.

Changes to this policy

This page may be updated when the app changes. The effective date above will identify the current version. Store privacy answers will also be reviewed before each release.
